With over 20 years of experience in media production, Karlina has dedicated her career to creating engaging educational content. She began in 1996 as a producer’s assistant at CineTel Films in Los Angeles, later moving to New York to spend eight years in the International Production Department at Sesame Workshop.
In 2005, Karlina returned to her roots in New England and became a consulting producer for the Cambodian Educational Media Initiative (CEMI), a partnership between WGBH and World Education. Through CEMI, she produced Cambodian versions of Sesame Street, Peep and the Big Wide World, and Rx for Survival, helping bring high-quality educational media to local audiences
Karlina has expanded her creative focus to include documentary and feature film production. Her credits include The Ghost Trap (2023) Light Attaching to a Girl (2022), Routine Interrupted (2022), and The Heroin Effect (2017). She continues to give back through her role on World Education's Bantwana Advisory Board and, in 2014, was honored with a Boston/New England Emmy for her work on a national child abuse awareness PSA.
Most recently, Karlina has focused on filming and editing stories for international NGOs that lack the resources to hire full production teams. She has worked with organizations including SEED Madagascar and World Education, producing content in Cambodia, eSwatini, Bangladesh, and Madagascar. Her most recent project is 2025 in Madagascar, One Shock After Another.
Karlina holds a B.S. in Mass Communication from Emerson College and an M.A. in Media Studies from The New School. In 2024, she earned a Certificate in Learning Design and Technology from Harvard Extension School, further strengthening her work in educational media.
